She asked me to forget you;
To erase you from my life.
She might as well have asked to;
pierce through me with a knife.

But deny her, I can’t;
A promise made to you:
To respect and honour your loved ones;
and respect their wishes too.

So I bid farewell to you and my heart;
A gift incapable of return.
And kindly retreat to honour her request;
To forget what we once were.
